Common questions
Money, Quotes and the $50 Off
Money questions first, since that's usually what people want sorted before anything else.
How do I pay?
Payment happens once the work matches the fixed price we agreed beforehand, no surprises on the invoice. We'll explain how that works when the booking's confirmed.
Do you charge a call-out fee?
No call-out fee, ever, just for us to turn up and quote. Money changes hands only once you've said yes to that price and the job's wrapped up.
Is the quote really free?
Completely free, and there's nothing owed if you choose not to proceed. We inspect the job, talk through what's involved, and give you a fixed written price before we start.
What does "$50 off your first service" cover?
It's $50 off the price of your first job with us, taken straight off the quoted price no matter what the job is. There's no fine print and no minimum spend to unlock it.
Common questions
Licensing and Safety
The legal side matters just as much as the wiring itself.
What is AS/NZS 3000?
It's the national wiring standard, the rulebook covering circuits, switchboards and every safety device we fit. We wire to it on every visit and hand over a Certificate of Compliance once it's signed off.
What brands do you install?
Mostly Clipsal and Hager for switchgear, plus SAL and Beacon Lighting on the fittings side. It costs more than an unbranded import, but it holds up, and spares aren't a scavenger hunt later.
Can I do my own electrical work in NSW?
No. DIY electrical work is illegal in NSW, not just against the rules, and it can void your insurance if something goes wrong. Even a job that looks simple, like adding a power point, needs a licensed electrician and the right sign-off.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We hold NSW Electrical Contractor Licence #452529C, we're fully insured, and we're a Master Electricians Australia member. Ask for the licence number any time, we're glad to give it.
Common questions
When We Can Come
Once you've decided to call, here's what to expect on timing.
What happens after I call?
A real person answers, not a call centre. We ask what's going on, talk through timing, and book a time that works, prioritising it straight away if it's genuinely urgent.
Do you work weekends?
Weekend slots are available when our schedule allows it. A genuine emergency gets seen to no matter which day it lands on; routine jobs are simplest to lock in midweek.
How fast can you get here?
Genuine emergencies jump straight to the front of the queue. Everything else runs often same or next day, and we'll give you a real window rather than leave you guessing.
How do I book?
Call (02) 9073 7836 and we'll sort a time on the spot. After hours, use the contact form and we'll get back to you the next business day.
Common questions
The Dee Why Questions
A handful of things locals specifically want to know before they call.
Do you know Dee Why's housing stock?
We do. Dee Why's housing spans brick and fibro cottages from the postwar years through to a fast-growing stack of unit blocks near the shops, and most homes here are units, not houses. That mix means switchboards and circuits from very different decades, so we check what's actually behind the wall before quoting.
Why do Dee Why's older homes need switchboard upgrades?
Plenty of Dee Why's postwar cottages are still wired to their very first switchboard, ceramic fuses and all. Those fuses don't cut power the way a breaker does, so a fault can keep running instead of tripping straight away. Most upgrades here get triggered by a renovation or a new appliance load.
Do you work on heritage/strata properties?
Mostly strata. With units and apartments making up most of Dee Why's housing, a lot of our work goes through body corporates and shared access arrangements rather than one owner's decision. Heritage jobs come up too, and we handle each property on its own rules, checking access and approvals before we start.
What suburbs do you service?
We're in Dee Why most weeks, and the same goes for the suburbs right around it: Brookvale, Cromer, Collaroy, Narraweena, Curl Curl and Beacon Hill. Not on that list? Ring anyway, there's a fair chance we can still fit you in.
